Dr. Miti A. Shah, at CHEST CLINIC, Sion is one of the few Paediatric Pulmonology Expert in the city of Mumbai, officially trained in Paediatric Respiratory Disorders from Maharashtra University and she has taken special training for the same at National University Hospital, Singapore. She has worked extensively and singe handedly managed the Paediatric Chest Clinic at Seth G.S.Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. She has also worked in the field of Complicated and Drug Resistant Paediatric Tuberculosis at B.J. Wadia Hospital for children.
We at CHEST CLINIC have our own Paediatric Bronchoscope and can perform scopies in Paediatric Hospitals and ICU’s as and when necessary.
We are also attached to Surya Children’s Hospital, Santacruz and Thunga Hospital, Malad, for our Paediatric work.
Dr. Miti, assesses children as per their age and ailment, and treats them with a sympathetic and playful approach with extensive counselling of worried parents. Patients and parents leave the Clinic with a smile with a better understanding and assurance of their chid’s respiratory ailment.
When should your child see a pediatric pulmonologist?
Pediatric pulmonologists are specialists best at providing a comprehensive evaluation of breathing disorders in children. Conditions treated include asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, stridor, upper airway obstruction, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, recurrent pneumonia, chronic or recurrent cough and wheezing.

• Bronchodilator use on a regular basis (weekly or even monthly)
• Chronic nasal congestion and/or chronic or seasonal nasal congestion
• Chronic respiratory infections (viral or bacterial)
• Cough significantly more than two days a week
• Cough significantly more than two nights a month
• Cough when he/she runs or exercises
• Cystic fibrosis or a positive newborn screen for cystic fibrosis
• Daytime somnolence, have a hard time staying awake during the day or seemingly “overly” hyperactive
• Difficulty breathing or breathing rapidly or seemingly labored on a frequent basis
• Hospital admission for asthma attack more than once
• Making a funny noise when he/she breathes in or out
• Neuromuscular weakness or spasticity and seems to cough frequently or has had pneumonia
• Noisy breathing, always seemingly to have noisy/raspy/rattling breathing
• Oral steroids required more than twice for asthma or croup in one year
• Having been diagnosed with asthma and you want a second opinion

• Pectus, have a questionable chest wall deformity or pectus excavatum
• Pneumonia, having been diagnosed with pneumonia more than once
• Poor weight gain, have difficulty gaining weight

• Recurrent croup history
• Scoliosis or having progressive scoliosis
• Severe asthma attack
• Sickle cell disease with breathing problems/asthma
• Snoring or sleeping poorly
• Symptomatic when using MDI/nebulizers to control asthma
